How we work

How we work

Power BI consulting in Brisbane that shows you the answer first

Level Up Your Data is a Brisbane Power BI consultancy that shows you finished reports for your sector first, then builds one on your own data in a fixed-price pilot of 4–6 weeks, scoped with you.

Wattlecrest Care Group is a fictional provider built on typical sector data. Figures are illustrative.

Our approach

How our Brisbane Power BI consulting works, in four steps

Every engagement starts small and fixed, so you know what you’re getting before you commit to more.

1. A free 30-minute walkthrough

We show you the report examples for your sector, live. You tell us the question that matters most, and we agree together whether a pilot makes sense. There’s no obligation.

2. A fixed-price pilot, 4–6 weeks, scoped with you

We build one report on your real data. Weeks 1–2: access to your systems, extracts and staging. Weeks 3–4: the data model on your data, reconciled to your own figures. Weeks 5–6: the report tuned with its business owner, then handover.

3. Build

We extend to more sources and more reports, with separate development, test and production releases, data quality checks, governance and documentation. The work follows our tested delivery accelerators, so every source and report is built the same way.

4. Run it: analytics as a service

If you’d rather not run it yourself, a monthly retainer of hours covers changes, new reports and support. See data analytics as a service.

What you get

What you have at the end of a pilot

A pilot finishes with something you can use and check, not a slide deck:

  • A working Power BI report on your data, answering the question you chose.
  • The data model and the pipelines behind it, in your own Microsoft tenant.
  • A reconciliation showing the report’s figures agree with your existing reports, or explaining exactly why they don’t.
  • An owner, a definition and quality checks for every measure.
  • A runbook and a data dictionary, so your team knows how it works.
  • A fixed-price proposal for the build, if you want to go on.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

How much does a Power BI pilot cost?

The pilot is fixed-price and scoped with you after the 30-minute meeting, once we know your question and your data sources. Three things drive the price: how many source systems the report needs, how easily we can get access to them, and how much the report has to cover.

How long until we see our own data in Power BI?

Within the pilot: you see your own numbers in the model by about week 4, and the finished report by week 6.

Do we need Microsoft Fabric or Premium licences?

Not necessarily. Many reports run well on Power BI Pro, and some organisations need Premium Per User or a Fabric capacity for larger data volumes, more frequent refresh or sharing with many people. Which one fits depends on your data and your users, so it’s part of scoping the pilot with you.

What happens after the pilot?

You keep everything built in the pilot, whether or not you go on. If you do, the build is a separate fixed-price proposal, scoped with you like the pilot.

What do you need from us?

Two things. Access to the source systems the report needs, or extracts from them if direct access isn’t possible. And a business owner for the question: the person who’ll use the report, who reviews it with us in weeks 5–6 so it answers what they actually need. We agree the details, including who provides access and when, while we scope the pilot.

Start with one question and 30 minutes

Bring your hardest question about your organisation’s data. We’ll show you a Power BI report that answers it for an organisation like yours, and tell you what a pilot on your own data would involve.
